Career - Part Two - Year One - Thanks Note!

Every person is a gift of God! Every person has the power to Grow! I was caught in a whirlwind of surprise when I picked up a call from a friend who has significantly contributed to my career - innings 2. It was lovely to feel and hear the wish from him, as I complete my first year at work. Over the last year, I have many people to thank for helping me see this day at work. Maids, Cooks, Caretakers, School Principals, School Teachers, Family,Friends, Co-workers, Auto drivers, Grocers, Doctors, Home nursing services and above all my parents, sister, a friend and my manager at work, who made it happen so I could see this date!! Thinking back… How many times I fell almost in despair! How many times I have given up! How many times I have lost my cool! How many nights I have thought this through! How many people were nice to me! How many people bent their rules for me! How many people gave their time for me! How many people tried to understand me! ...

Everything takes time - In Its Time!

I think about someone who was upset when we spoke earlier today. I see a temple at the crossroads and say a quiet word of prayer for the person. I look down on the pavement and see an insect writhing, in an effort to be moving again. I drift off in thoughts... For some reason, I am able to connect the dots and see the Universe's message for me. The person is struggling too. A lot of pain it must be. I wish and hope it gets soothed and healed by a miraculous touch of the Universe.  I recall from school: Make me beautiful in your eyes; Make me truthful in your ears; Make me strong in body and in mind; Make me gentle, good, and kind; Help me, dear God, to do my duty always; Wherever I am let me do my part!. That makes me wish if there is something I must do, I better know! The Universe is what I trust in. As an afterthought... I did not help the insect back on its track. I have never done to date. Too bad, I realize late. Hours later, I get off a bus, headed homeward. ...

Splash on Hospitals

A place that makes you realize that : Health is the true Wealth. True Love is beyond what we all think it is. So many people are at times needed to support the survival of a person. Money cannot buy Life. Rich or Poor, the Maker's choice of organs and their mechanisms do not vary. Patience and Wait is everything in Life. One day, Ego will come crashing down if you need help with your personal care. In the wheels of Time, if we live to grow old, we will become weak and sober down before we knock out, off the party of Life! Forgiveness is the best way to good health. Anger is just plain Madness if seen through the lens of health. No one is spared from the punishments, the worst one being suffering on the deathbed. The only company for an ailing old person is his faith in the Omnipresent. All the world's a Stage! and William Shakespeare said it Right! Much more realizations, every waking minute in a hospital...  Long story cut short, it is one place to v...

Happy New Year 2018!

Too many things over the last one year! It feels nice to look back a bit to realize how much grateful I should be for all the good things in my life over the last one year. And even more grateful for all the support from all the lovely people at various stages, moments, situations in my life. 2017 takes a page in my diary for so many reasons... I figured out that I must work!! I learned all over again, what it is like to face rejects in the job market! I learned to believe in my prayers better when some of them got answered! I knew that the saying  " Ask and you shall receive " is often true. I had to ask for every single thing I wanted! It is also the year when I ... took the first step out of my house after my children were born... first was away from kids and cried more than them when I had to send them off to the daycare at school... come back every day anxious to see my children's facial expressions and read their minds... They can't yet ...

Navarathri - A very different Idea of Dolls exhibit

Image
Can you believe that people have the patience and the artistic sense in them to actually dedicate a whole room and the portico for Dusherra Dolls exhibit?? I had a chance to attend one such Golu invite in Coimbatore this year. This post is going to be a phot post of the exhibit. As you enter the house, an old timer independent house if you can imagine with a portico ( Has a neat little dolls set up telling you, you are in for a grand Golu exhibit inside!!!)  leading to a closed lobby also called as Rezhi in Tamil. You see M.S Subhulakshmi first. There is a note that says they are celebrating her, which also explains the love for music in the family. The Rezhi leads to the living room which was full of dolls..  All the dolls cannot be covered in one single frame!!! Dolls of all sizes - tiny to huge; Dolls of all times -  Age old scupltures in clay to today's plaster of paris and fibre dolls.  They have theme based, varnam based, usual golu, sto...

Shrimath Yoga - Nelmangala - Bangalore

Image
Ours is a very conservative family where the concept of get-together meant family functions, weddings and other gatherings where relatives met. One of our cousins just expressed that its been a very long time since we all met and another cousin of ours offered to host the gathering in his place. So, that's for the prologue, very much a synopsis of the Whatsapp discussion that happened few months ago. One August Sunday Morning, a group of 25 of us, from different locations in Bangalore, managed to get to Nelmangala which was well away from the city. What was waiting for us was a real wonder!! A mini yoga school - Shrimath Yoga run efficiently by Mrs. and Mr.Krishna Prakash. Here are a few pictures of the place where we spent the whole day.   Nature teaches us many things that words in books cannot. So many trees and a beautiful landscape in a non-commercial set up, maintained and managed by two young people who chose to devote their time and effort to Yoga, is ...

God of Healing and Medicine - Sri Dhanwanthri

I just got back from a temple visit. It is an awesome get-away from the concrete world of today. Located in Ramanathapuram, Coimbatore, this temple is called Sri Dhanwanthri Temple, managed by the Ayruveda Research foundation and Hospital team. The hospital or the Chikitsalaya is housed in the same campus as the temple. http://temples.avpayurveda.com/about_us.php The website gives all the details about the temple. It is a typical Kerala temple and all the poojas and procedures are strictly followed. What caught my attention was the greenery all over the place. There are benches in the garden, where you can sit back and relax, meditate, do nothing and just recover. There seem to be houses or guest houses where people are seen to be taking rest after medication. To look at lush green garden from your window sill or balcony is a gift that people are rarely blessed with these days. It seems this simple exercise of looking at greenery each morning has got a healing touch to the human ...

No time syndrome

Yes, I was caught up in the 'No time' syndrome for a while I guess. I never took the effort to come to my blog page until this morning when I picked up this book called Megaliving by Robin Sharma. I enjoy my morning cup of coffee usually with some TV programme. Today, because the book was lying in the sofa where I left it last night..[ Oh yes, am not too organized.. for me, its really okay for things to be lying around once in a while... usually the house gets in order only after 10:00 A.M. After that I never re-arrange or move things much. If me or my husband have not had the sense to put it back on shelf, so be it.. until the next morning!!!! Life is more than just cleaning is my present motto.], I picked it up to leaf through it. Some thought lines as I typed the email spreading word about the book to my friends: When we cannot spend time with ourselves and people, what are we trying to achieve? Are we trying to work for a tomorrow that is yet to come? Most often we are biss...

From Ramayana - Give your spouse's words a thought

This is the first time I am touching the great Indian epic Ramayana on my blog. I am surprised that it had not occured to my mind over the last five years of blogging. Anyways, 'Better late than Never'. I googled for the mini version of Ramayana and found this page: http://www.kerals.com/ramayanam/index.htm There must be many more; Pick one of them and read through when you find time. For non-Indians or people who have not had a chance to read the Ramayana completely, here are some details : Ramayana is the story of Lord Vishnu in the incarnation of King Rama, the ruler of Ayodhya. Ramayana was written by Valmiki with the blessings of the divine for the people of the world to learn life. Ramayana has innumerable sub stories and very interesting ones at that. There are some enthusiasts who have a thousand views ( both plus and minus) of the various segments of the story. Don't let them bother your flow of thoughts. Every step of the story has some message for you. You cannot...

Staying in touch!!!!

With people it is possible to stay in touch over phone or email or letter or even an SMS. With spirituality, through temple visits, prayers, verses and music. With innocence through children and their non-stop chatter. With wisdom through talks with old people who can express. With love through a simple 'I love you'. With freedom through a quiet lone walk in a familiar locality. With talent through a hobby of your choice. With ability through practice. With health through determination. With fitness through exercise and perseverance. With excellence through persistence. With knowledge through other people's experiences. With self through what??? All of the above?? I just realized that we all stay in touch with a lot of things that we want in life and strive hard for a lot of things in life and somewhere forget to connect with ourselves. We are here but are so lost in the outside whims and fancies that we lose track of what we are and what we can achieve. I have started thi...

To redefine or shape your mind...

I am writing this post for an obvious reason - I am beginning to lose my temper more than before. I have decided to redefine its shape. A quick and focussed look within the inner-self uncovered a certain simple truth: If you have had a pattern of keeping your inner peace and have changed it in the recent past, then it affects your temper. Go back to the same pattern if possible. For an alternate and permanent solution, a quick research on the internet brought me to this link. h ttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scIvvDZDQzI All that mattered for me was I never took time out to keep my calm over the last few months and this point got registered this morning. Following this video reassures me that I can get back control on my temper. Help yourself, when no help seems to be around and get back to shape in your mind.

Epitome of Confidence - Bhakta Prahalad

Quick note: Divine is my new section. This post does not advocate any specific religion. It is just an observation and is best read with a generic and open mind. If you don't have belief in God, you are better off not reading any posts under the label: Divine. I am not sorry, but I must say that any comment that is offending any religion or the Divine will not be published. On the Television, there was this scene. There were a number of uniformed young boys. From their attire and surrounding it seemed that they were at the residential school of the olden days - Gurukul. It is believed that in Gurukul mode of education, the students were taught all the arts and sciences that one needs to know in life, in a span of seven or ten years time. One of the children was saying that his Lord, the supreme power, Vishnu is everywhere and anything in the world is possible for him. To prove his point, he walked up to the nearest flowering shrub and plucked a part of the stem. He challenged the r...
