Happy New Year 2018!

Too many things over the last one year! It feels nice to look back a bit to realize how much grateful I should be for all the good things in my life over the last one year. And even more grateful for all the support from all the lovely people at various stages, moments, situations in my life. 2017 takes a page in my diary for so many reasons... I figured out that I must work!! I learned all over again, what it is like to face rejects in the job market! I learned to believe in my prayers better when some of them got answered! I knew that the saying  " Ask and you shall receive " is often true. I had to ask for every single thing I wanted! It is also the year when I ... took the first step out of my house after my children were born... first was away from kids and cried more than them when I had to send them off to the daycare at school... come back every day anxious to see my children's facial expressions and read their minds... They can't yet

Love - Beautiful realization

A recent English movie had stirred up my head about the concept of love... Not that I am the first person questioning this big word LOVE, but it still is okay to rant about it... What is love really?? Love as I think,  is everywhere, every relationship we share is based on Love. Dad-Mom, Brother-Sister, Men and women friends, Spouse, Relatives, Neighbours, Teachers, Colleagues, Acquaintances, God - All of them get into one of the circles of love around us. It is more like a concentric circle where the self, sits in the center and is surrounded by circles of people and their love energy. To everyone in the circles, based on the protocol of the relationship we give and take love in various forms/extent. That goes to say that Love between a pet and you is not same as the love between you and your son. However, the joy that the love causes only varies by degrees. Joy there is. :) Love there is!!! What I am not saying is, of course, the pain, the hurt, the disappointments and

Why above the knee??

Recently I joined work after a long break of seven years. Which means, I am a fresher to the current setup in the IT offices. Yes or no?? Yes, I think so. With my conservative looks and modern thoughts ( that's what I believe, God knows if everyone thinks the same way too) I can easily pass off as a middle-aged woman ( lady?!) who can accept nonsense better than I could ten years ago. People who have met me ten years ago should meet me now, to check this statement of mine! A cold and slow morning in Bangalore... I was wrapped in Sweater and scarf and battling a severe cold with a steaming hot cup of green tea ( !!!, I know.. I don't believe this too) and struggling to write one line which was definitely luring. After the tenth edit of the line, I kind of gave up and stood up for a break which is usually turning my eyes off the screen to change the line of sight for a few minutes.. so I get a different angle practically and it may sometimes work well for the sentence in the

Intent , Action and Outcome

My five-year-old daughter taught me a very interesting lesson in life, the one that I always knew but forget to recall often! It was a very early start for us this morning. I was in the kitchen making her breakfast while she was in slightly an exploratory mood, or so it seemed. Unusual for mornings, she was intensely examining some toy car, drawing something that only she understood and basically did not have time to waste. Since there was no noise at all from the living room, I came out of the kitchen to see the door was open. I asked her if she knew why the door was open or who opened it so early in the morning, given that it was still dawn. She simply said, "I don't know amma. I did not open it either. I just turned this knob." The answer came as a beautiful thought: Intention is different from Action and definitely different from the Outcomes. She wanted to explore the doorknob - Intention She turned the knob to see how it is working -Action The door open

Slow Down...

Slow down.... Once in a while, Slow down a bit... In the heavy traffic, to let a fellow on the road take over you. Once in a while, Slow down a bit... In the midst of a chaos, to breathe deeply and consciously. Once in a while, Slow down a bit... In the mad rush to success, to ask yourself if its really your success that you wish for, or a win over someone or something. Once in a while, Slow down a bit... In your busy work calendar, to just smile a greeting to a colleague. Once in a while, Slow down a bit... In your craziest of temper, to look the other person in the eye for ten seconds. Once in a while, Slow down a bit.. In the middle of a complex work assignment, to talk to a friend. Once in a while, Slow down a bit... In racing with the clock, to check if its the clock that decides your actions really or yourself. Once in a while, Slow down a bit... In a restaurant while being served your meal, to ask if the server has had his meal. Once in a while, Slow d

What is permanent??

Permanent is one word in English Dictionary that probably needs a revision. The Pink Frock, The Sapphire stash, The athlete win, The mindless chatter, The aimless walk, The sinful cream cake, The perfect figure, The J-i-T laughter, The phenomenal performances, The Jittery and Jinxed firsts, The rainbow at dawn, The five-branched palm tree, The ROFL moments, The sweet sixteen, The crazy reading fits, The laurels, The quarrels, The gossips, The small pain and big gains, The childhood Innocence, The God-send moments and people.. All stay as thoughts!!!! Nothing is permanent physically, but we can keep it all stored in our memory as long as we are sane and our brain cells agree to!!

Some things never change! Some people Too!!

Some things in life, come Natural. Some things in life are seen and learned. Few other things come by practice. Yet other things come by listening. Some things come by going through experiences. Some things have to be felt deep down, at an unfathomable depth of the mind. Yet other things can never be understood  in this lifetime. Teaching things to people, in my opinion is an attempt. Learning is an effort. Lesson and Memories are the gifts!' Some people never change, in spite of all these, because, its just not their way of life or may be the nature has not crafted the path of change for them at the moment.

Trending on... Stand-up Comedies

I do appreciate stand-up comedies and loved the laughing riot I got into while watching a stand up comedy fwd that I got on WhatsAppp. After a long time, I laughed until my stomach hurt... I don't know too many names of the comedians though... when the three minute video ended i almost hit the Share icon to share the video to friends.. now i have men friends and women friends in my list. Realized that there were mentions in the comedy that i wont want to share it with the men. So let it pass... Moved on to the next item on the YouTube suggestion list of similar titles. Watched at least seven more videos by different null comedians. Thanks to my profession as a technical writer, as much as words and their usage amaze me, i cannot stand use of unwarranted, ill-fitted, obscene words too often in the name of comedy. I do understand the pun-intended word usage which i admit is okay if the joke is for adults, came out as casual as its meant to be,was intended to be understood, and not l

The 1 hour Journey on Lalbagh

Two medical doctors aged 60 plus were my co-passengers today. They travel from Bangalore to kuppam every day to PES medical college where they profess and practice medicine. The 1 hr 15 min journey by Lalbagh express with them radically changed my views about many things in life. They introduced themselves and I was surprised that they travel every day to teach in an institute. I hope to be able to recall and collate what I understood today for the betterment of the willing minds. When asked about the long travel every day to work in a different state, that too dealing with many surgeries in a row, many lectures back to back, many outpatient interactions once in a while, the lady doctor who is an Anaesthetist says " If you are passionate about your work, you will be able to take all efforts to make it happen". LESSON 1 - PASSION The topic turned to medical facilities in rural India. I got to know that most people get to come to them after the problem becomes a threat to life

Women's Day - Re-look, Rethink, and Redefine

Happy Women's Day!!! screamed my friend on top of her voice. Not sure, if I woke up to her cheerful and confident voice or the inner voice of joy that is inherent in college-going girls celebrating just about any special day!  And this day, 17 years ago ( Yes, that's quite a long time ago ), we had decided to wear pink and celebrate the day with sweets and savories in class!!. We were super proud to be a woman, wrote wishes for each other, received wishes from all the men friends ( Yes, like if they wished they got the sweets!!!) and generally had a really good time with heads high. Our enthusiasm was so contagious that the Ladies hostel warden had relaxed the Hostel In-time that evening. That meant, we can come in at 8:00 P.M!!!! Two hours extension was a huge bonus and an icing on the already super cool day!!! The Little girl suffers in the hands of the psychic man who abused her and burnt her to charcoal dust! Women disrobed in public! Teen boys ill-treating their girl

Sing a song everyday!!!

After a very long time, as long as seven years time frame, I chanced to attend a technical communicator's conference in Bangalore last week. Now, practice is important, even to sit in a lecture hall. I chose lectures that required only my mind to listen and chose to leave out all the hands-on sessions in the conference. I was left with one session in the afternoon that didn't want me to type anything on a computer. That's the only reason why I sat through this session on "Reaching Deeper into Markets". I believe that if something doesn't help me, it may help someone else and I went ahead into the room. The doors to heaven do not have locks, but must be as ornately done as this one and heavier than "heavy" can mean to push!!! is what I felt when I opened the door to the hall where the chosen session was supposed to be conducted. But hard work pays they say!! The talk was engaging and nice in probing into the economics of almost everything I can th

How are you placed today?

A very common question I got asked over the last one month's time by many of my friends. The answer has to be simple: I have a, b, c things to do or 1, 2, 3 places to go to or i, ii, iii work to complete... and the like.. This is on the basic level and probably this question doesn't need too much thought or attention beyond this.. But, I did find this question quite disturbing. One evening, on my way back from a temple, I realized the answer to this question: Where ever we are at any given point in time, we are placed at the right position to serve the right purpose at the right time!!. Just that we do not realize it. There is no reason to fret about things ( I admit that I have not yet reached that level of maturity as I write this post but I definitely realize ) when they are not in your hands. Exam results for instance. You can only put your best until the paper leaves your hands. Now, if the evaluation will happen properly is something you have no control over. Sim
