The evening sky

It was a rainy evening. I walked out of the lift lobby and stepped out to breathe in the pollution-free damp air. It takes a good ten minute walk to reach the main road.. a walk I usually enjoy everyday on my way back from office. I take my time to watch the sunset and look at the fresh flowers that adorn the lush green lawn beside the side walk ways. The I-Pod is a recent hit with me. So, with some melody on, I started my walk.

The sunset's crimson red was quite a sight.. It was more towards pink than orange.. Awestruck by the color combination and realizing that I cannot really capture this kind of a tint or shade on a canvas, I stopped to look at the sky one more time.. The clouds gave a nice touch of gray and white to the reddish pink colored horizon... Then there was yellow, light pink and purple shades in the sky...

[The last time I saw a similar ( but not the same) sight was on an early summer morning sun rise ten years back when we were huddled around a single engineering drawing that was next to impossible to decipher... I still recall throwing the book away and rushing to the hostel badminton quadrant to gaze the sky at dawn....]

I was marvelled by the color combinations on the sky - Red, Pink, Purple, Orange, White, and Gray colors. A lovely color palette and the sky looked like a canvas painted by God. Apart from whatever scientific explanation this might have, I am a strong believer that no one.. just No one can actually paint such a beautiful picture.... With strong thoughts, I continued walking, gazing skywards.. For once, I didn't have to bother about traffic.. I am still walking inside the campus..... My music added an extra touch to the joy within me... I love scenery, but didn't know it so much till that evening....

Then there was the clear blue - what we call the sky blue, a tint that is very difficult to picture paint using any of the colors... There were white colors to compliment the art work... I looked back to see if I was dreaming.. didn't I just see crimson and all other colors?? Yes, they were all there and then there were these colors of a clear sky.... Then as far as I can see I saw gray ( a lighter tint) and some light blue patches here and there... The purple seemed to touch up with a little white combo, wherever there was blank space in the canvas, is what it seemed when I saw lavender touches. I wanted to capture the whole painting of the sky and didn't have the high end camera to shoot this.... Unsure if any camera could catch the complete picture though......

Once in a while I had to watch my step... when I did, a soft drizzle started and the flowers were all smiles, or so it seemed.. The bushes and plants on the side walk were all in the clearest of green color possible... I didn't know that the pollution ( I must say its minimal inside the campus) had all along been hiding the exact color.. It had taken a rainfall to wash the leaves and get you the real green color... The only color that was missing in the sky I thought... Then there was this dewdrop on a flower petal.. I stopped to see the flower and noticed there were so many dewdrops on all the flowers... I regained my senses and felt the soft drizzle on me.. It was absolutely heavenly I must say....

Next, I wanted to see all of these together at one shot.. Took a look once again and proceeded to walk with my glance skyward of course..... Spotted the rainbow and on the opposite side saw streaks of sun beams emanating from the golden colored clouds close to the crimson colored horizon. As always, tried to see the boundaries of each color in the rainbow... till date have not been able to say where the violet fades, indigo begins, blue spreads, green brightens, yellow glows, and orange merges with the Red... It was a beautiful scene in all with a complete color palette...

The next I knew is the noise of a security guarder's whistle that brought me back to senses.... I had reached the campus gate....Gave one last look at the seemingly canvas painted sky and took in as much as my eye sight can manage and proceeded on my way... In all this has taken me just about fifteen minutes.. fifteen minutes that made my day.... and gave me one more reason to trust God....

The heavy rains in the next few minutes made it look like the waters washing the colors off the sky. The next morning, this evening sky was the topic of discussion at most work desks... all these people had left office at the same time as me... :-) We were the lucky ones to have caught a glimpse of the best unreproducible painting ever....

My photo and your words speak the same. It may not have happened on the same day, but the expression is same :-)
