I have not been really thinking much or observing much on generic stuff over the last four months, which is why, I guess I am unable to post a lot on my blog like before.. Now, as I gear up again as usual on blogger, I decided to give a closer look at the very familiar blogger window.. And there... I saw the Stats links. Surprise!!! May be it has been there all along and I have not seen... Like they say, Its always there, we just don't see it... and the it here refers to blessings in life - trivial or great. In school, I was one of these calm, studious, supposedly outstanding students who was very scared to stand in front of a class and talk for a minute. I used to avoid all extempore sessions and speech contests. Tamil was my second language. It must have been a boring afternoon for my Tamil teacher , I thought, when she asked how many of us wanted to participate in a Tamil Debate. These questions used to freak me a lot, because, my name was for some reason on the list all the time and I used to refuse any way. That afternoon, my teacher just came over and showed me the list of selected candidates. My name figured in there and to some people in life, you just cannot say 'No'. It could be because you love them, respect them, adore them, admire them, are afraid of their temper, or all of the above. To me it was clearly respect and the temper aspects. Happy 6th birthday to my writing experience. This day, in year 2004, I took a chance to join this new ( I had not heard of it till then, so it was new to me) field called 'Content Development' in a start-up company in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Now, a hard-core crazy computer programmer that I was, back in college, I could not even think of spending time writing anything except emails and letters. I have always loved writing letters and emails, but writing in any other form was something I could not relate to, until that February day when someone talked me into 'trying' to write technical stuff. I bought the idea because, I believe there is always a way to say things and this person put it forward very nicely to me : Just give it a shot, if you do not like it, walk out!! As simple as that!!!! And in this profession, you cannot stay if you don't like it. So, just take that chance for sometime, till you find a programming job that matches your interest. What does half-a-century mean to us? The phrase sounds great as compared to the number fifty which is half of a cent. Cent as in the number hundred and not the cent that denotes the lower denomination of a US Dollar. Wonder if we have ever cheered up about our score cards showing half a century back in school or college or even at work... We were never happy about half a century achievements as much as a century... Wondering aloud why?? :) The phrase is all about optimism. For a person who scores 50% in something, saying "half-a-century" makes it sound positive and optimistic and also inherently gives the pat-on-the-back that all of us sometimes need to come up in life. You might want to compare it with what it feels like to say 50%. Well, it doesn't sound bad either, except when some people add the unnecessary word 'just' to it. Let me spell it for you.. "Just 50%...". I am so glad that I have completed 'half-a-century' posts as dewdrop. :)

I know this topic seems too much of a strain on your mind.. and very different from my usual writing pieces. Over the last week, I happened to meet some one online and believe me.... Those 30 minutes of chat on Yahoo messenger with her changed my way of looking at things in life.. It is not what she said that made me think about forgiving people.. it is what I felt made me change my way of looking at things.... Since that day, I am relaxed much more than ever before when it comes to people and their attitudes.. coz, I have learnt to say " These things happen in life " and " It is okay to Forgive..." Now why do I say 'Forgive for Good' and not just 'FORGIVE'?? That is because, when you forgive, you not only learn that you are No God to Forgive people but also learn that your blood pressure and tension come to a quick control.
