LIVE LIFE FOR WHAT IT IS AND IT IS NOT

It was a shock to see this WhatsApp news item that brought the sad demise of one of the successful businessmen. I dismissed the thought with a sigh at the first instance. Next mention was when I heard someone talk about the same loss. This time, I got thinking about it a little. About an hour ago, many hours after the demise of this gentleman, I read a silent news ticker on a television channel on the same sad demise. That’s when I dialled a friend of mine. For a strange reason, I felt disturbed about the death of this businessman, who is not related, or known to me. It was a suicidal death. Suicides instigate a fit of anger in me all the time, followed by a deep sadness.  I thought it was selfishness at the outset when one person cannot think of anyone else but self when taking such devastating decisions. Try as I might dismiss this news as just another world news, I cannot. I said, 'loneliness and ego could have caused the suicidal thought like most other suicide case...

Is it because we forgot the word 'Contentment'??

There is so much people have to say, about everything under the sun. Why? There is so much people want to know about everything under the sun. Why? There is so much people want to do at all times whether they have the potential or not. Why? There is so much money people want to make and consequently spend too. Why? There is so much fame people are after and struggle to keep up. Why? There is so much of highs as much as lows in one’s mind. Why? Is it normal?? Was the world like this before? I agree about the evolution, intelligence and the need for making more and more of everything, but so also we must be aware that too much of anything is good for nothing! There have been constructive stupendous advancements in science and technology, engineering and medicine, spending power and buying power, earning and investments - No doubt. So also, there is a lot of stress over having all of the best things including the natives and often neglected peace of mind, happiness a...

Being alone, Being in the company of self, Being Lonely and Dementia

Disclaimer :  This post does not apply to people who channelize their minds towards spirituality so that the negative thoughts ease off due to practiced prayer and calmness and the mind has free disk space and ego levels come low. They will naturally be able to meet people and greet people with ease. Their need to be approved, appreciated, accepted, loved will be lower because they believe in the love of God and know that Providence sends the right people at the right time to them. The whole post applies to : A large population of men who irrespective of whether they talk or not, never really connect or trust their heads and hearts with another person. People who detach themselves completely from the world even when they are among people. People who do not think anyone else is necessary at all. People who think they are wasting time talking to people. People who think they can live and die alone. People who are unknowingly getting into depression because they ...

How much is too much? How much is Enough? How much does it take to be content?

I looked up "Technical writing trends online" when an idea occurred to me as I was writing today. I saved the lookup for the afternoon, because I knew I will need a diversion. Upon a few casual clicks on the subject I was looking for ( Simplified Technical English ), I figured out something… Every one is unsure of the importance of his/her job in the other person’s mind. There is a race for being on-top-of-everything in a given field to grow up the ladder. There is a confusion about being a generalist and specialist. "Which is fancy now?” is a big race in the already maddening race that we are on. How much is too much? is still a big question in life when it comes to knowledge and learning. "Do you have to know this and this and this also to be what you want to be?? “ is according to me a perineal professional dilemma. Where are you as a person anywhere?? You can be an engineer, a doctor, a professional with a million claps by half of the globe...

Who should be the real ruler?? - Auto driver stands tall!

As the auto driver was narrating the agony of the pregnant woman in labor and her husband, whom he took to the government hospital in Bangalore, all the pain from the past came back to my mind… A Grinding, Churning, Creaking pain in the pelvic joint… Closed Eyes...Gritting teeth….Eyes shedding tear drops but the tear drops do not dare to trickle down the cheeks…Hands moving to the belly unconsciously trying to check the little baby inside...Worried looks on all the faces around…A sudden relief…. Words spring up.. Vocal cord breaks open the silence and says “God, this is impossible to bear”! The kith and kin fervently pray for the strength of the woman. You just read the most minimal, realistic, verbal visualization of the throbbing effect of labor pain that most women get to go through. And it repeats… and goes on and on until the final creak, and first cry leading to dried tears on the new mom’s face. (It is impossible for me not to recollect my own blessed chances...

Why above the knee??

Recently I joined work after a long break of seven years. Which means, I am a fresher to the current setup in the IT offices. Yes or no?? Yes, I think so. With my conservative looks and modern thoughts ( that's what I believe, God knows if everyone thinks the same way too) I can easily pass off as a middle-aged woman ( lady?!) who can accept nonsense better than I could ten years ago. People who have met me ten years ago should meet me now, to check this statement of mine! A cold and slow morning in Bangalore... I was wrapped in Sweater and scarf and battling a severe cold with a steaming hot cup of green tea ( !!!, I know.. I don't believe this too) and struggling to write one line which was definitely luring. After the tenth edit of the line, I kind of gave up and stood up for a break which is usually turning my eyes off the screen to change the line of sight for a few minutes.. so I get a different angle practically and it may sometimes work well for the sentence in the...

Trending on... Stand-up Comedies

I do appreciate stand-up comedies and loved the laughing riot I got into while watching a stand up comedy fwd that I got on WhatsAppp. After a long time, I laughed until my stomach hurt... I don't know too many names of the comedians though... when the three minute video ended i almost hit the Share icon to share the video to friends.. now i have men friends and women friends in my list. Realized that there were mentions in the comedy that i wont want to share it with the men. So let it pass... Moved on to the next item on the YouTube suggestion list of similar titles. Watched at least seven more videos by different null comedians. Thanks to my profession as a technical writer, as much as words and their usage amaze me, i cannot stand use of unwarranted, ill-fitted, obscene words too often in the name of comedy. I do understand the pun-intended word usage which i admit is okay if the joke is for adults, came out as casual as its meant to be,was intended to be understood, and not l...

Are you there??

Are you in? If the answer to these questions is "Yes" from the other side, then the next question will be: Can I come over? If it is a "Yes" again,  then the next question will be: What time would be convenient for you? If you are beginning to wonder if this is an official meeting precedence, then stop right there. This is what happens on casual visits to friends' /relatives places too. Implies... that we are beginning to formalize everything and every relationship too. We are beginning to see the other person as an intrusion in our lives because that's why the doubt comes up if it would be the right time to visit someone." What if I go in when they are busy getting ready to step out? What if they are not at home when I travel all the way to their place? What if they are unwell and are not in a position to answer the door-bell at all?? What if I disturb them or their plans??" Agreed, these formalities are important and essential for...

One Indian Girl !!!! - Chetan Bhagat

With due respect to the author of the  book, One Indian Girl, I have strong questions to all the women who had given inputs to the author + the author himself as he wrote the book. What is the idea of the book?? Is it one of these ?: -Women can't be intelligent enough to judge a man. -Women who study well, are intelligent and make it to the top of a career cannot have self-control -Women can be easily bought with a few nice words, lots of drinks, and great food. -A "Please come in" invite to a man from a woman is more than just the living room. -A woman who is career-minded can never be a good wife, mother, and daughter -Appreciate a woman's look and she will definitely fall for a man. I am sure you are wondering what this is all about. The story line of the famous Author, Chetan Bhagat's latest book "One Indian Girl" is quite easy to understand. A moderately pretty looking young woman Radhika makes it to the world's most prestigiou...

PINK - Viewpoints

Everybody has an opinion on everything. That's what makes me write this post. I have an opinion too. This review is based on normal instances and excludes all the untoward incidents happening to women even if they are keeping their best of safety. I leave the judgment of such cases to God's court which definitely is fair!! God Bless All of Us Women to stay safe!! This movie PINK has been on my mind since the date of release. All the reviews I read spoke about the boldness of the movie and of course, an Amitabh movie means " A must watch" for a lot of his fans. I liked the idea of seeing him as a lawyer on screen. That means dialogue intrinsic, so naturally there is going to be a message. The story line is very simple : Three girls Falak, Meenal, and Andrea working in Delhi get into a hassled fight with guys that ends up in a police case. The girls were too modern, yet innocent to have trusted the guys just because they knew one person in the group. The guys tri...

The Middle Class Syndrome!!

On a casual Whatsapp conversation thread I received a message with a picture of a man taking both his children to school on a bicycle. It was a rainy morning. He had covered his head with a plastic cover to shield only his head from getting drenched. Both the kids were covered completely with a huge plastic cover. Not because I had nothing better to do, but it was a really stirring picture!!! There was no rain coat, no umbrella. Thoughts went rattling off in my head as usual. May be they didn't expect the rain and the plastic cover idea was  just the best idea at that moment. May be they didn't have the money to afford a rain coat for three. May be they forgot the rain coat at home. May be they are used to umbrellas and it was not practical to hold an umbrella this day especially with the many school things that they were carrying.. .. On a parallel track, my mind went on to these questions too : What if the man skids off his cycle given that it was raining heavily ...

Siddhartha Gautama's wife

On one of the Facebook posts someone had shared a story about Siddhartha Gautama who later shined as Gautama Buddha and presently is being worshiped as Lord Gautama Buddha. The life and story of Gautama Buddha like many other great people's life is for us to learn from. There is no right and wrong in all the stories. All stories, real-life incidents, gossips etc., are always opined for or against by many . This post is just a response that I wanted to share based on a small snippet in Siddhartha's life. It is said that "Siddhartha left his home at the middle of night, the night when his wife gave birth to their son". Years later, when they met again, his wife had no complaints about it. She had lived all her life alone for the son and did all her duties right. Gautama became popular and his wife did not, for she did what was asked of her and Buddha did what his calling to the earth was!!! It was just this that makes me write this post. The fact that ...

Fashion Mislead

I thought she forgot to wear her dress over her super neatly done white cotton slip. Then the sling bag, a pre-teen xerox copy beside her and her careless seeming careful make-up confirmed that she was 'dressed' up. I waved off my usual questions like.... why white?? how do u manage to walk like no one's looking at you? won't your daughter mimic you someday too?... and the like....because I had my son running around and my daughter sprinting to catch him and I obviously had to park the cotton slip lady aside in my mind. I was busy minding my own business which is ensuring my kids were in my line of sight anytime, in the Sunday- crowded mall today. What is about Sunday crowds? people come over to just spend time... and its quite true. Nice place to window shoppe, bird watch, meet n greet, and also spend a lot of money....one such shopaholic comes out of a shop. Nothing unnatural about it.. until u look at her dress..dress again!!!. She forgot to put on her jeans!!....

Board Exams!!!!! Breathe Easy!!!!!!

Board Exams have begun for the Class X and Class XII students. How does it matter to me? Nothing until I saw an advertisement today on one of the lamp posts. It read: CRASH COURSE FOR CLASS X AND CLASS XII STUDENTS DURING THE SUMMER VACATION!!!  CLASSES START ON APRIL 1ST AND END ON 31ST MAY.  100% SYLLABUS COMPLETION AND GUARANTEED RESULTS!!!  HURRY!!  FEW SEATS LEFT!!!! I actually stopped on my tracks, read the board again and went on my way.  What are they trying to say? The class 10 exams are a joke and no longer need to be seriously taken as they used to be?? And what makes people believe that class 12 syllabus of today can be covered in two months??  What is the intention of a crash course anyway? Why are we rushing the kids in an already racing society? Anyway, that is what they will also be doing in life.. running after a bus, train, jumping signals to work, chasing deadlines at office, racing against or with the clock never ...
